Challenge:
Housing and Urban Development (HUD)’s Office of University Partnerships (OUP) wanted to rethink their branding for newsletters, publication covers, and brochures. They knew they needed to gain recognition among academic and community leaders for their programs to achieve visibility among historically black colleges and retain their current levels of funding.
Solution:
Urban textures from houses and neighborhoods instantly conveys HUD’s mission to increase wealth of lower income Americans through home purchases and sweat equity. Custom illustrated scenes adorn the brochure covers. Each program was assigned a color to help the user know instantly what information will be housed in each printed item. OUP’s general documents are still blue and gold.
Result:
Sorting packets for interested universities and programs has become much easier now that they are color-coordinated. Browsing long documents for program specific content is also a breeze in their new, smartly designed publications. Each part of the OUP program now has a custom palette of colors, textures and illustrations to draw from when designing future collateral.
