Challenge:
How would a small non-profit company convince millions of Americans that they not only need health insurance but that they could afford to have it? Our initial studies told us that personal stories would influence many to enroll but we quickly learned that while some people needed to connect with an in-person assister to seal the deal, financial messaging was by far the best motivator.
Solution:
When the ACA was barely a blip on the radar screens of consumers who needed coverage the most, we collected
stories of individuals who were helped by health insurance that we could display on GetCoveredAmerica.org. These stories ranged from women who were happy to report for the first time that their gender was not a reason to be charged more, to entrepreneurs who could finally take the chance on their dream career knowing that a safety net would be there. Then we led consumer to tools like the Get Covered Calculator to see how much they could save, the Get Covered Connector to make an appointment for in-person enrollment assistance, and the Plan Explorer to help them seal the deal by choosing the right plan for them. The Connector is still live at GetCoveredAmerica.org
Result:
Now we have millions of stories to choose from and we couldn’t be more pleased as numbers of Americans insured through the marketplace rose to 8 million during the first enrollment period, 11.7 million during the second enrollment period and 12.7 during the third. People are still asking Enroll America to tell their stories so they can help get more people signed up for quality healthcare.
